UfiSpace demos 1.6T liquid-cooled AI fabric switch with Tomahawk 6

UfiSpace brought a live 1.6T AI fabric liquid-cooling demo to OCP Global Summit 2026, aiming to show thermal feasibility for next-generation, high-density Ethernet switching. The demo centers on a Broadcom Tomahawk 6-based platform built for 1.6T optics and rack-level liquid cooling integration.

In the liquid-cooled track, UfiSpace demonstrated the S9331-64HO3L, a 102.4 Tbps 2OU ORv3 platform powered by the Broadcom Tomahawk 6 ASIC. It’s configured with 64 x 1.6T OSFP ports and operates with a CDU (Cooling Distribution Unit) as part of the live setup. UfiSpace describes the S9331-64HO3L as a “validation-ready early access architecture” intended to provide hyperscalers and system integrators a proof-of-concept for the thermal and mechanical design approaches needed for 2027/2028-era AI clusters.

Alongside liquid cooling, UfiSpace also showed an air-cooled alternative: the S9331-64HO, a 3RU 102.4 Tbps platform. The company is pitching this system at operators with highly optimized air-cooling environments that still want to push bandwidth density in specific areas, while keeping a common platform approach as they plan broader liquid-cooled rollouts.

Thermals are only half the story for AI fabrics. As clusters stretch across buildings or campuses, buffer behavior and lossless characteristics can become just as limiting as raw port bandwidth, especially when you’re trying to preserve throughput under congestion and long RTT paths.

For scale-across and DCI use cases, UfiSpace highlighted deep-buffer routers based on Broadcom Qumran silicon. The S9630-32HO (Qumran 4D) is a 3RU router with 51.2 Tbps switching capacity, 32 GB of embedded packet buffering, and 32 x 1.6T OSFP ports. The S9620-32E (Qumran 3D) is a 2RU 25.6 Tbps platform with 32 x 800G QSFP-DD interfaces and OpenZR+ coherent optics support.

UfiSpace also included an 800G AI switch in the lineup: the S9322-64EO, a 64 x 800G OSFP platform based on Broadcom Tomahawk Ultra. The company describes it as delivering “enhanced cognitive routing” and “ultra-low latency” targeted at AI backend fabric interconnects.

Separately, UfiSpace and GeNopsys Technologies described an integrated Ethernet–optical switching approach that combines UfiSpace’s S9321-64E (an 800G Tomahawk 5 Ethernet switch with 64 x 800G QSFP-DD ports) with GeNopsys’ optical circuit switching technology. Vincent Ho, CEO of UfiSpace, said, “The transition to 1.6T AI networking requires more than just raw bandwidth; it demands complete ecosystem alignment across silicon, optics, thermal management, and NOS partners.”
