Vantage partners with Liberty Power Innovations on up to 1 GW of on-site power for North American data center campuses

Vantage Data Centers has announced a strategic partnership with Liberty Energy, through Liberty Power Innovations (LPI), to develop and deliver utility-scale, high-efficiency power solutions for Vantage’s expanding data center portfolio in North America. Vantage says the deal is intended to accelerate campus development in markets where grid capacity is constrained, while supporting cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure for large technology customers.

Under the agreement, Vantage and LPI plan to deliver up to one gigawatt (1 GW) of power agreements between LPI and Vantage data center end users over the next five years. The companies also reported a reservation of 400 megawatts (MW) of 2027 power generation capacity, with potential expansion beyond 1 GW.

Liberty says the power solutions will be owned and operated after commissioning by LPI, which will provide “long-term power services.” Liberty also positions its platform as distributed power systems with “integrated engineering” and “real-time digital operations,” intended to address rising data center power demand driven by AI and continued cloud growth.

The companies say LPI’s platform includes Forte power generation and Tempo intelligent load management for long-term primary power, plus energy services and grid management capabilities aimed at optimization and resiliency. For Vantage data center campuses, Liberty says co-located generation will connect through a dedicated distribution network to support “high-density, AI-optimized operations,” and will include the ability to accommodate a future grid interconnect. Liberty says the system can operate autonomously or use grid attributes to maximize efficiency and reliability.
