Cloudera debuts data and AI platform on AWS European Sovereign Cloud for regulated data center operations

Cloudera has announced the launch of its sovereign data and artificial intelligence (AI) platform as a development partner for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) European Sovereign Cloud, according to its October 2025 statement. This initiative targets organizations operating under strict data residency and compliance mandates, including regulated data center environments, by providing operational control and regulatory alignment for data and AI workloads within European Union (EU) boundaries.

The Cloudera Platform is engineered specifically for AWS’s European Sovereign Cloud to maintain data and metadata residency within the EU, support emerging regulatory requirements, and ensure that data is governed within well-defined geographic and operational boundaries. According to Cloudera, the platform focuses on core technical and operational needs for secure data management, making it suitable for highly regulated industries and public sector organizations operating their own or third-party data centers.

Technical features highlighted include the ability to analyze and store data while keeping all content within EU borders, provide a full suite of data analytics tools, and deploy AI applications and agents under strict sovereignty requirements. The platform is designed to operate with physical infrastructure and operational support provided exclusively by EU-resident AWS personnel. This approach aims to deliver compliance with EU sovereignty and privacy regulations and maintain full operational autonomy for customers.

In its announcement, Cloudera states that the combination of its secure hybrid data and AI platform with AWS’s infrastructure enables compliant, sovereign-ready solutions for enterprises. “Our customers face growing demands for security, compliance and innovation. The AWS EU Sovereign Cloud empowers them to keep data within the EU, meet rigorous regulatory standards, and drive AI and analytics innovation—securely and with full operational autonomy,” said Paco Mateo-Sidron, SVP, Head of EMEA, Cloudera.

Sergio Gago, Chief Technology Officer at Cloudera, added, “Bringing the Cloudera Platform to the AWS European Sovereign Cloud enables organizations to securely industrialize data and AI use cases, all while adhering to the most stringent EU regulations and powering the creation of true Private AI.”
