Fourier launches containerized cold plate data center solution with integrated chiller plant

Fourier has announced the launch of its Cold Plate Container Solution, a prefabricated and containerized direct-to-chip cooling system featuring a fully integrated chiller plant within each module. The new product delivers up to 0.5 MW of IT load per container, aimed at data centers focused on high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) training clusters. Fourier claims this system supports benchmark-level compute density and aims to simplify deployments while reducing operating costs.

Distinct from typical cold plate systems that require external chilled-water plants or coolant distribution units (CDUs), Fourier’s module integrates the chiller plant internally. This design enables rack-and-power-on capability without additional site infrastructure, offering a plug-and-play deployment model for hyperscale and colocation operators handling AI and HPC workloads.

The Cold Plate Container Solution utilizes a sealed coolant loop that operates with minimal water use, eliminating dependence on municipal water supply and reducing treatment requirements. Fourier says this solution is suitable for water-scarce and high ambient temperature regions, requiring only periodic preventive maintenance. The company further notes that the system is optimized for low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and reduced total cost of ownership.

Each module handles up to 0.5 MW of IT equipment, supporting configurations from eight NVIDIA 4090 training servers to single NVIDIA H100 deployments. It is designed to scale linearly to multi-megawatt data center campuses. The architecture incorporates N+1 redundancy across pumps and fans and is engineered to meet Tier III data center standards, with reliability features approaching Tier IV levels to support mission-critical and year-round continuous operation.

Fourier specializes in prefabricated data center infrastructure for AI and HPC applications, with expertise in direct-to-chip, immersion, and fan-wall cooling technologies. The company reports that the Cold Plate Container Solution is part of its broader strategy to deliver modular, sustainable, and efficient data center solutions.
