Flex launches high-efficiency power shelf for NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 to advance 800 VDC data center infrastructure

Flex has announced a new high-density power shelf system designed to accelerate the adoption of 800 volt direct current (VDC) architectures in data centers, with a focus on supporting NVIDIA’s GB300 NVL72 platform featuring 72 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs. Flex reports that the power shelf system, introduced at OCP APAC, has been developed in collaboration with NVIDIA to address the increasing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and enable future megawatt-scale racks.

The Flex power shelf is engineered to deliver up to 33 kilowatts per shelf using six power supply units in a 3+3 redundant configuration. According to Flex, an advanced power shelf controller manages the system, which achieves a peak efficiency of 97.5 percent at half load. The company claims this reduces power conversion losses by more than 60 percent compared to conventional systems, resulting in lower heat output, reduced cooling requirements, and decreased energy costs.

This product is fully compatible with the NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 platform, which supports large-scale GPU and CPU workloads for AI-focused data center deployments. Flex highlights the power shelf’s capability to meet current needs while also advancing data center infrastructure toward full-scale 800 VDC adoption. The company states that it will align the production of 800 VDC power components with the release of NVIDIA Kyber rack-scale systems to support seamless expansion as AI models grow more demanding.

Flex’s broader portfolio includes grid-to-chip power products, manufacturing services, and cooling solutions targeting hyperscale and colocation operators. The power shelf system extends Flex’s ability to solve common data center power and heat challenges in AI and high-density environments.
